This is the final completed piece for art 4. I used watercolor as the first layer, this created a soft but colorful layer as the canvas is made out of cloth. I then took watercolor pencils to outline the female figure. I used warmer colors on the bottom half and cooler colors on the top to add color and definition. I then sketched out where I wanted the vines. leafs and flowers to go and sewed different shades of green in the fabric to show where the light was hitting the vines versus where the shadows were. Lastly, I used felt to fill in the flowers, as this was a new medium I had never used, i enjoyed learning how to felt.
Overall, I feel that this piece is a self portrait as I enjoy nature and often represent that through my art. I also feel that the piece as a whole represents femininity. I enjoyed working on this piece, and I learned new techniques such as felting and sewing. I plan to continue developing in depth art to continue growing as an artist.
